Subscription Cost Calculator

Add up all your subscriptions, whether billed weekly, monthly or yearly, to see what they really cost you each month and each year.

Why subscriptions are easy to underestimate

Each subscription looks small on its own, and many renew automatically, so they quietly add up. Annual plans are especially easy to forget because you only see the charge once a year. Converting everything to a monthly and yearly total shows the real cost.

How the calculator works

Monthly cost = Weekly × 52 ÷ 12, Quarterly ÷ 3, Yearly ÷ 12
Yearly cost = Monthly cost × 12

Worked example

Video streaming ($15.49), music ($11.99), a gym ($40) and cloud storage ($2.99) each month, plus a $139 yearly shopping membership, add up to $82.05 a month, or $984.64 a year. Over five years that is more than $4,900.

How to run a subscription audit

  1. Find them all: scan the last two or three months of bank and card statements, and check app store subscriptions on your phone.
  2. Ask of each one: did I use it in the last month? Would I sign up again today at this price?
  3. Cancel, downgrade or rotate. Many people keep one streaming service at a time and switch every few months.
  4. Set reminders a week before annual renewals and free trials end.

Frequently asked questions

Are annual plans cheaper?

Usually, but only if you would have kept paying monthly for the whole year.

What should I do with the money I save?

Redirect it on purpose, for example into an emergency fund or extra debt payments, so it does not disappear into everyday spending.
